I loved the art and the concept! it’s very cool, very original. The only thing at first was confusing and I thought it was a bug, but nope, it was the mechanics haha, excellent game!
I am glad you enjoyed the game, thanks for your comment!
My friends also mention the confusing starting, and I realised that my designed tutorial lacks clarity. In the future, I will polish the game, design a better intro phrase, and publish version 0.2 for post-jam.
Thanks again for your comment, it means a lot for me to improve my skills and the work!
Love this concept was mildly confused at first but then once I got it I was hooked on the concept really plays well into the theme and there could be some really cool expansion of the ideas here. Great Job!
I am glad you enjoyed the game, thanks for your comment! I will expand the game, polish it, and publish version 0.2 in the future.
Please feel free to give any advices, I can really use them when improving the level design later. Also, if you find yourself stuck in some place, comment here and I will provide some tips.
I know there are so much to modify, and my friends have already pointed out some unsatisfying experience. I really like the concept used in this Jam, and I hope I can provide a better and more complete version when I equip myself with more skills.
love it, i like how you used the fall damage and respawn, shooting enemies to respawn in their place is a great idea. can be frustrating at times, but over all i'm saving this one to try to finish it completely
I am really glad you enjoyed the game, looking forward to your advices after the complete playing!
Please feel free to write comment if you get stuck somewhere, I will reply with some tipis if you need.
Thanks again for your comment! I will continually polish the game, and publish version 0.2 in the future.
I didn't get stuck due to anything except my reflexes being crap haha. but I'll let you know if I come up against any progress blocking glitches. I've added the game to a collection so i can get back to is soon. trying to play all the jam submissions right now! :)
I get what you were going for, but fall damage feels really bad at times
Thanks for your comment!
This game is more like a puzzle game than a platformer, and the fall damage is the problem I proposed. As you said, the falling is really bad at times, that’s because the height induced puzzle might sometimes feel not that intuitive.
I think a good modification might be using different colors as hint to indicate the height of safety and danger.
If possible, it would be great if you can try this game again! After paying attention to the fragility of the skeleton, the levels will be less annoying, and there are something really cool as you go through the game!
Thanks for your playing again! I will polish this game and publish version 0.2 in the future.
Yep, that's what I thought. But I wish you could just... I just woke up and can't form sentences. The problem sort of arises when you have a platform that's like 4 blocks high, from which you need to drop down, but you press jump instead and die. I know it probably won't be easy to do something about it (and it's a game for a game jam)
Haven't read the full reply at the time of writing that, but a color coded solution seems nice
The 4-blocks-high platform is indeed a threshold, because 5-blocks is dead height, and the skeleton can jump 2-blocks, which means the player must straightforwardly move to another platform instead of leaping onto it. I understand it can be frustrating when you want to jump to somewhere but then find yourself broken, and it also happens to me when I test the level.
Thanks again for your comment! I will try to improve the tutorial phrase, introduce the mechanics more clearly, and use some decoration to help with the level indication.
